Questions

How do I get Chess Coach?

It's an iPhone app (iOS 17 or later), coming soon. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when it's your turn.

Which chess sites does it work with?

Chess.com and Lichess. You link a public username, one or both. We never ask for your password or a sign-in to those sites. It works best with 30 or more recent games.

How long does the first analysis take?

About four minutes, and up to about 40 when many players are waiting. You can close the app, it keeps going.

Do I need to sync new games?

No. The coach checks your linked sites in the background and when you open the app; pulling down on Games checks again. A check is skipped if your games were synced in the last 30 minutes, and new games appear only after the site publishes them.

Is it AI?

No. Stockfish, the chess engine, analyses your games on our server. This version sends none of your data to an AI model.

Will it raise my rating?

We don't promise that. It tells you what to work on, from your own games, and gives you the work. The rest is practice.

Does it cost anything?

No. There is nothing to buy in the app.

How do I unlink a site or delete my account?

Both are in Settings. Unlinking stops new reads from that site and keeps the games already imported. Deleting your account removes your links, games, reviews and stretches. You can also request an export of your data there first. Details are in the privacy policy.
